PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for full cycle attorney recruiting (partner, counsel and associate) including sourcing, screening, interviewing, preparing offers and assisting with onboarding for the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices.

  • Work with DWT leadership, including Practice Group Leaders and Office Partners-in-Charge to identify hiring needs and advance recruiting objectives in a strategic manner.

  • Frequently collaborate with the Diversity Outreach Recruitment Manager to develop methods to attract diverse attorney candidates and advance the firm’s diversity recruiting efforts.

  • Partner closely with key colleagues, including Professional Development, Practice Management and Office Administrators, to exercise timely sharing of information and recruiting best practices. 

  • Advise and manage open attorney position announcements.

  • Develop and drive innovative sourcing methods to build proactive talent pipelines.

  • Proactively create a sourcing plan for open positions, including the identification and management of external sources for those open positions. Strategically distribute open position announcements utilizing external sources.

  • Develop, identify, and track internal and external referrals for open positions using a variety of sourcing tools.

  • Consistently track key metrics and generate relevant reports. Report competitive market intelligence on hiring statistics.  Develop and analyze reports and projections regarding market trends in diversity, legal recruiting, and retention.

  • Assist with annual budget process.

  • Perform other related projects as necessary including backup to other recruiting team members.

    THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  JD preferred. 

  • 4+ years’ work experience as a legal recruiter working directly in the San Francisco or Los Angeles metro areas and legal markets required, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current law firm industry trends in those markets required.  Strong relationships and connections in those legal markets required. 

  • Proactive with the ability to think strategically and execute against the agreed recruitment strategy.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Products required, i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.  Working knowledge of recruiting software, preferably viRecruit.

  • Public relations skills and ability to represent the firm in a professional manner.

Cybersecurity Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Patrol DWT networks, review security audits and logs, and regularly verify the cybersecurity controls in place as part of DWT’s Information Security Management System.
  • Participate in assessing the cybersecurity of DWT vendors and contractors as well as respond to client reviews of DWT’s cybersecurity posture.
  • Be prepared to respond nimbly and effectively to possible cyber incidents.
  • Provide incident investigation, handling and documentation; and ensure remediation steps timelines are understood.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with IST Procurement Manager, manage the procurement function and oversee all aspects of purchasing IT hardware, software and services.
  • Work with appropriate IST personnel to evaluate end user needs and establish user equipment standards.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets. Closely monitor budget and proactively alert directors to budget variances. Research explanations for budget variances.
  • Create and maintain budget reports at the direction of the senior management team.
  • Negotiate favorable contractual terms and conditions with suppliers for IT hardware, software and service.
  • Deliver on cost reduction commitments through the identification, development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives.

Davis Wright Tremaine’s family business practice group is looking for a content writer to aid in creating weekly content to post on its Family Business Resource Center. The blog includes posts from DWT attorneys as well as other professionals in the family business community. Posts are generally original content relating to current events, legal points or observations on legal and/or business considerations relating to family businesses.
 
We are seeking a law student to write content for the family business resource center to then be reviewed and edited by attorneys in the group before posting. Each post would average 600-750 words apiece and are written in a non-legal tone. The ideal candidate would have an interest in family businesses, corporate law and governance and, potentially, estate planning, but this is not required. We anticipate needing approximately four posts/month.

We are looking for an enthusiastic administrative professional to join our team in Portland.   This position will provide and coordinate administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals in the securities and business transaction practices, supporting effective use of their time. This position requires an ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with timekeepers and staff members. Expertise supporting business transactions required. Additional experience with corporate and securities, and mergers and acquisitions practices is a plus.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand assigned timekeepers’ practice and clients.
  • Extensive interaction with clients; acts as intermediary with clients and responds to client requests.
  • Manage client billing process, including review and editing of pre-bills.
  • Maintain up-to-date forms, including collaboration with word processing on templates.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Outlook is essential.  Must also be proficient in Adobe, DocuSign, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Office 2010 and Windows 7 is preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow work directions, manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision.

  • File various types of foreign patent applications with the assistance of foreign counsel.
  • Review and understand patent docket entries, and actions needed in response to each deadline.
  • Review incoming communications with attention to patent disclosure requirements in the U.S. and other jurisdictions. Coordinate disclosure of references where needed.
  • Correspond with clients regarding upcoming annuity deadlines; collect annuity retainers and instruct payments through the firm's annuity payment service.
