A technical background in computer technology is required.  Hands-on experience with a wide variety of clients (from startups to Fortune 500 companies) and also experience with a variety of technology areas such as mechanical devices, consumer products and designs is highly desirable. Technical experience with cloud computing, cryptography, information security, robotics or block chain would also be desirable.

Privacy and Security Associate – Mid-Level – Washington, D.C. or New York

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level associate to join its Privacy and Security Practice Group.


The ideal candidate will have at least three years of law firm experience, preferably at an AmLaw 200 law firm, and be an active member of the DC Bar or New York Bar in good standing.  Excellent academic credentials and strong analytical and writing skills are required.  Prior experience with data privacy and security law is highly preferred, but not required.  IAPP certification is a plus. 


Among other duties, this position may include: (i) researching legal principles and precedents; (ii) drafting and negotiating data use agreements and various non-disclosure agreements; (iii) drafting and reviewing data privacy and security policies, including policies for websites and mobile apps; (iv) assisting with responses to privacy and information security incidents; (v) assisting with responses to regulatory complaints and investigations, and related matters; (vi) assisting with privacy/information security deal due diligence; and (vii) providing general data privacy and security counsel to clients.(viii) some experience analyzing and applying US privacy law is required.
