Davis Wright Tremaine LLP seeks a midlevel associate with a minimum of four years of experience to join its robust Commercial Litigation practice in San Francisco. The associate will work on a broad range of complex commercial disputes for clients across industries, including technology, telecommunications, financial services, intellectual property, healthcare, environmental, and other complex litigation. This position offers substantial responsibility, direct client interaction, and opportunities to collaborate closely with experienced litigators across the firm.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support all phases of commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts
- Conduct legal research and draft substantive motions, pleadings, briefs, and discovery materials
- Handle fact investigation, document review, and witness preparation
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
- Collaborate with partners and clients to develop litigation strategy and case management plans
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and internal teams
- Contribute to business development initiatives and client relationship efforts
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice in California or eligibility to waive into the California Bar
- Minimum of four years of relevant commercial litigation experience at a law firm or comparable legal environment
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience drafting dispositive motions, managing discovery, and preparing for depositions
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork
- Prior trial, arbitration, or evidentiary hearing experience is a plus

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: The annualized salary range for this position in San Francisco is $225,000 to $330,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate’s education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Core Benefits: Full-time employees may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance (with an optional Health Savings Account), dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, and disability.
Paid Time Off (PTO): Full-time employees receive sick leave benefits in accordance with the appropriate state Sick & Safe Leave Policy. Attorneys generally take approximately three weeks of vacation annually, though the exact amount may vary depending on client and firm needs. The firm also provides 11 paid holidays each year.
Additional Programs: Employees may participate in 401(k) retirement planning, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
